ACC Walking Club

Open to Asnuntuck students and employees, the ACC Walking Club offers a variety of ways for you to walk for health at work and at home. Walking activities include assignments designed to reduce stress and increase well being, and an optional 12 week program intended to help participants meet the fitness goal of walking two miles in 30 minutes at the end of 12 weeks.

Specifics:

ACC Walking Club members join in the daily walk as schedule permits between 2 and 3 p.m. Practices for relaxation and stress reduction during walks will be provided on Mondays, and available at the Information Desk the remainder of the week. Hard copy logs will be provided.

Other ways to participate:

  • Set a fitness goal of walking 10,000 steps at the end of the 12 week “America’s Walking” program at www.pbs.org/americaswalking/heallth. Prizes will be awarded to the first five participants to meet their goal.

  • For added fun, chart a course walking across America by logging in with Web Walking USA at http://walking.about.com/cs/measure/a/webwalkingusa.htm.

  • Speed Walking for weight loss and stretching for total body conditioning led by Charles Demirgian, track coach at Enfield and Fermi High Schools and an ACC student, Tuesdays, 10:30 – 12 noon.
