2-1-1 is a confidential and free service that connects you to comprehensive information about getting and giving help in your community and across Connecticut. When you dial 2-1-1, you will speak with a knowledgeable and professional call specialist who will help you with questions about health and human services information, community services, child care, child development and HUSKY health insurance.
Additionally, 2-1-1 provides crisis intervention assistance to those in need. 2-1-1 is multilingual and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Allied Transportation Services
Allied Transportation Services in Enfield transports senior citizens and individuals with disabilities in north central CT. Sedans, minivans and wheelchair-accessible vans are available.
All trips must be scheduled in advance. Allied Transportation operates days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Allied is authorized to transport individuals receiving Title XIX assistance.

Allied’s Attic Thrift Store
“Allied’s Attic” Thrift Store is located at 581 Enfield Street in Enfield, across the street from Dunkin’ Donuts and the American Legion hall.
The store is open M-S, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Thurs. hours extended to 7 p.m. The store features clothing for men, women and children, along with shoes, handbags, jewelry, small housewares, gifts, books, DVDs, etc.
Allied’s Attic is operated by Allied Rehabilitation Centers, Inc. Allied provides services to approximately 275 adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and other challenges.
Some of these consumers participate in employment training programs and are paid employees of Allied’s Attic.
Donations for Allied’s Attic are accepted at 3 Pearson Way, across the street from the DMV offices, M-F, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Please, no computers, kitchen appliances or large pieces of furniture. Donations cannot be accepted at the Enfield Street store. For more information about Allied’s Attic, please call (860) 741-3701.
HUSKY
Allied Community Resources in East Windsor is partnering with the Department of Social Services to promote HUSKY health insurance for uninsured kids up to age 19.
Depending on total family income, parents or a caretaker relative may also be eligible to receive the insurance benefits.
Allied does not determine eligibility, but we can assist you by providing applications (available in English & Spanish), help with completing the application and translation assistance (available in Spanish, Polish & Vietnamese).

Allied Employment Opportunities
Allied Community Resources also administers three Medicaid Waiver programs for the State of Connecticut: the Acquired Brain Injury Medicaid Waiver, the Personal Care Assistant Medicaid Waiver and the Elder Care Pilot Program.
These programs offer great employment opportunities to work as Personal Care Assistants, Companions, Homemakers, etc for brain injured, disabled and elderly individuals.
We will not directly place you in a job, but once you complete an application we can add your name to our statewide registry that is distributed to Social Workers, Case Managers, family members and individuals on these rapidly growing programs.

Their web site is filled with information ranging from job openings and upcoming career fairs to wage and workplace guidelines and tips for developing an effective résumé.
Online services include up-to-date Labor Market Information, such as data on wages and occupation trends that help students and job seekers make informed career choices. This site also leads to the Job and Career Connection, designed for students who will be entering the workforce, or those thinking about making a career change.
With 14 CTWorks Career Centers statewide, including an office at 620 Enfield Street, visitors can meet with career counselors, attend a variety of employment-related workshops, or utilize our self-service Career Center.

Ellington Human Services |

The Human Services Department provides services and programs that meet the needs of residents within the community.
Residents are provided direct services or referred to community-based programs. We offer benefit counseling to families and individuals applying for state and federal programs. Limited funds are available for non-recurring emergency needs.
Households must meet certain income guidelines. Benefits up to $300 are available in the calendar year. Other programs provided include Energy Assistance, holiday season of sharing, housing rehab, and a town fuel and food bank. The Salvation Army funds are available to supplement and help meet emergency needs.
Counseling services are provided for youth and their families. Individuals are referred to local agencies in the Tri-Town Area. Health services are provided by local agencies on a fee for services basis. Dial-A- Ride Transportation services are scheduled through the senior center and Hockanum Valley Community Council for the elderly and disabled for medical appointments, employment, local recreation and socialization.

Enfield Child Development Center provides a relaxed, happy, and home-like atmosphere where children feel safe and secure. The program’s goal is to satisfy the children’s physical, emotional, social, cognitive and nutritional needs.
Each child’s background and life experiences are recognized and appreciated. Children are given maximum opportunities to express themselves in a creative manner.
Communication and cooperation between the Day Care Center and the home is crucial. All parties benefit by aiding each other with information and resources to facilitate the healthy and happy development of the child placed in our care.

Food donations can be dropped off on Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off Monday through Saturday at Asnuntuck Community College's front desk or during the week at the Enfield Senior Center and all fire departments in town.

Loaves and Fishes

Enfield Loaves and Fishes is a local area soup kitchen providing hospitality
to all those in need by offering meals, aid, and companionship at no charge.
Meals are served starting at 4:00 pm Sunday through Friday and Saturday starting at 11:00 am.
They rely solely on the generosity of volunteers and donations, and they're always looking for new help.
Volunteers are welcome Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Some of the volunteer duties include: setting up for dinner, preparing foods, fundraising, answering the telephone and taking messages, receiving donations, serving meals, caring for leftover foods, clean up, and help in picking up donations at various sites.

Food shelf availability for non-perishable items is distributed at two local churches - All Saints Church, School Street, Somersville (Nancy, 749-8625) on Fridays from 8:45 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and Congregational Church on Main Street (right across the street from the Town Hall) on Mondays from 10:00 until 12:00. Proof of Somers residency may be required.
Mobile Foodshare program is available for perishable items at St. Patrick's Church parking lot on High Street in Enfield, CT. The program operates every other Friday from 1:45 until 2:30.

The Town of Somers does have an emergency fund that can provide temporary assistance to a family that qualifies as low-income. Long term assistance can only be secured through State programs.

They offer assistance to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones. All services are free and confidential.
Campus Support
- 24 hour English and Spanish hotline, with access to trained, certified counselors available to college students who have been sexually assaulted, need support and desire confidential services.
- Accompaniment/Advocacy for students who are survivors of sexual assault throughout medical, police, court procedures, and university judicial systems.
- Short term, individual counseling to students on campus or at a preferred location.
- Facilitation support groups on campus.
