       ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY

The adaptive technology area of the Learning Resource Center (Library) was established in 2004 with major funding from a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant awarded by the Connecticut State Library.

Asnuntuck students, faculty, staff, and area residents can use the following hardware and software, whether or not they have a disability or a special need

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8.0:
for composing and editing text through speech recognition
  • Kurzweil 3000:
for taking notes, preparing for tests, vocabulary development, and for listening
to text being read instead of reading silently
  • Zoomtext:
for enlarging the font size of documents, online databases, and web sites in order to make reading easier on the eyes
  • ClearView 500:
a closed-circuit television (CCTV) that changes the size of print as well as the color contrast of hard copies of documents to make reading easier on the eyes

Training on how to use the adaptive technology area is available by contacting Sherry Gelbwasser, Information Services Librarian, at 253-3161, Michael Moran, Director, at 253-3171, or by visiting the Learning Resource Center
