Asnuntuck Community College Will Celebrate Black History Month

with a Coffee House Reading of Poetry by African-American Poets

Enfield, CT--On Monday, February 4th, at 8 p.m. Asnuntuck Community College will celebrate Black History Month with a coffee house reading of poetry by African-American Poets.   The reading is sponsored by the Asnuntuck Learning Resource Center, the English Department, Asnuntuck's Foundation, and Asnuntuck’s poetry magazine, Freshwater.  The reading will also mark the College’s participation in the nineteenth annual National African American Read-In sponsored by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English on the same date.

Members of the community are invited to come and be part of this celebration.  Copies of work by African-American writers will be available for those who would like to read or we hope that people will bring work that they admire.  The reading will be held in the Coffee House in Cafeteria II.   The formal reading will be followed by an open mic at 9.30 pm.   Refreshments will be served, and the reading is free and open to the public. Asnuntuck Community College is located at 170 Elm Street, Enfield.
