Asnuntuck Community College to hold dedication ceremony in memory of Mary Lou Strom

Enfield, CT—Mary Lou Strom was a dedicated member of the Asnuntuck Community College Foundation, Inc. and strong advocate for the college. Asnuntuck Community College will hold a dedication ceremony for the Mary Lou Strom Conference Room (formerly the LRC conference room) on December 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the college (refreshments will be served). Mary Lou Strom was a member of the Asnuntuck Community College Foundation, Inc. since its founding in 1999. Representatives of Mary Lou’s family will be present at the dedication along with other town and government officials to recognize the tremendous contribution Mary Lou gave to the college and community.

Mary Lou served as mayor of Enfield from 1996 to 2001. Earlier in her career, she was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and served on the town’s Community Policing Steering Committee. She was chairman of the Local Elected Officials Steering Committee of the Capital Region Council of Governments, and served as a director of the Capitol Region Workforce Development Board. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce.

She served as Second Vice-President of the Connecticut Conference on Municipalities, and was a member of the Board of Directors of CIRMA, CCM’s risk management and insurance services arm.
Strom was the assessor of the Town of Granby for 14 years, and earlier was assistant assessor in Enfield. She is past president of the Connecticut Association of Assessing Officers, as well as past president of the Hartford Area Assessors Association.
