| For immediate release, November 9, 2006 "Such Moments of Sweetness": Poetry Students to Read at Asnuntuck Community College Coffee House on November 20
Enfield, CT--Students from Professor Edwina Trentham’s poetry class, Poetry and Women’s Lives, will read their poetry at a coffee house at Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm Street, in Enfield, on Monday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. The students have been reading and writing poetry throughout the semester on themes such as Identity, Defiance, The Body, Simple Blessings, Love, Family, and Friendship, Conception and Birth, and Mothering. The reading's title, selected by the class, is a phrase from Mary Oliver’s handbook on writing poetry, which describes the experience of sharing poetry in workshops when a writer finds her or his voice in a poem. The following students will be sharing their poetry, in a coffee house setting in Cafeteria II, beginning at 8:00 p.m: Britney Bidmead, Dianne Bilyak, Tracy Capello, Nicole Curylo, Kristi Droney, Lauren Fisk, Michele Graczyk, Matthew LeMay, Kristen Pomeroy, Lisa Romaniello, Paige Steinert, Kylie Sweet, Elizabeth Szewczyk, Sara Thompson, and Eileen Witkop. A poetry open mic will follow the reading. The reading, which is sponsored by Asnuntuck's poetry magazine, Freshwater, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and copies of Freshwater 2006 will be on sale. For more information contact Edwina Trentham at 860-253-3105 or etrentham@acc.comment.edu.
