Welcome from the Dean of Academic Affairs

As Dean of Academic Affairs for Asnuntuck Community College, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to a world of academic opportunities and experiences.

Our experienced and dedicated faculty and staff are committed to our ongoing mission of offering quality education in an accessible, affordable and nurturing environment. We are here to serve your needs.

ACC’s Division of Academic Affairs offers a variety of Associate Degree and Certificate Programs that provide career preparation and enhancement, transfer opportunities and life-long learning. Additionally, our partnerships with high schools and 4-year colleges and universities provide for a seamless transfer of credits earned to further one’s educational goals of going from a High School Diploma to Associates Degree to baccalaureate and graduate degrees.

For example, our Tech Prep Partnership and College Connections Program provide high school students the opportunity to complete college level coursework while still in high school. Under our Articulation Agreement with UConn for its Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP), ACC students in the Liberal Arts and Sciences are guaranteed admission on the Storrs Campus. Likewise, our Articulation Agreement with UConn – The Business and Technology Transfer Pathway – provides guaranteed admission at the UConn/Tri-Campus.These partnerships and our learning experiences take you from where you are to where you want to be.

At ACC, we also are committed to providing experiential learning opportunities. One example is the opportunity that students, faculty, staff and community enjoy in participating in the programming and production of radio shows.

ACC has the distinction of being the only community college in the Connecticut Community College System to own and operate a Radio Station – WACC, 107.7 FM – located right on our campus. The station reaches all of Enfield and surrounding communities.

Internships and experiential learning opportunities are also available for students in our Accounting, Early Childhood Education, Communications, Business, Human Services, and Criminal Justice programs. Students also have the opportunity to present and demonstrate their creativity in performing, visual and communication arts through our Art Shows, Freshwater publications and Poetry Readings, and theatrical productions.

There is a world of opportunity that we are waiting to connect you to at ACC. Stop by anytime to discuss your dreams for academic success: The Office of Academic Affairs is located in 117, and we are here for you.

Peace,

Sarah L. D. Garrett, J.D.
