Greetings from the Department Chair of Arts, Theater, and Communication

The Department of Arts, Theater, and Communication includes a number of disciplines each offering courses leading to various two-year associate degrees and may be used for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.  The department offers courses leading to degrees in Communications and Broadcasting (Television and Radio), Liberal Arts, Fine Arts Option, General Studies, and to a number of associated certificates.

 

The department offers courses in Art, Photography, Video and Radio Production, Public Speaking, Dance, Digital Arts, English, Literature, Journalism, Foreign Languages, Music, Theater, and Film History. 

The dedicated staff of the college’s Academic Skills Center offers tutoring to students enrolled in the department’s English/Writing classes free of charge.

 

The department has excellent facilities for video and television production, radio production, conventional and digital photography, theater production, art and music appreciation and performance, dance, and several studio art courses. 

The department also houses the college’s radio station, WACC -107.7 FM and students are regularly invited to participate in radio production and on-air programming. A  number of internships are also available to interested students in a variety of disciplines.

 

Fulltime and adjunct department members have broad experiences in each of their disciplines as writers, filmmakers, artists, photographers, and communicators and are experienced teachers.
