ACC Foundation Scholarship Program
ACC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE: by 4 pm on a Thursday in mid April, 2010 date to be determined
STUDENTS: Please complete the application to apply for the scholarships listed below. Be sure to sign and date it, and return it to the Office of Institutional Advancement, Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm Street, Enfield, CT 06082 by the 2010 deadline. A new application will be posted here at a later date.
In 2008, scholarships resulting from the funds raised in the Annual Golf Tournament were increased to $1,000.00 each. On behalf of the scholarship recipients, we thank our donors for making this possible.

OVERVIEW OF SCHOLARSHIPS ROBERT BURKE SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Robert Burke Memorial Scholarship is open to any high senior in the eight-town region served by Asnuntuck Community College who plans to attend Asnuntuck Community College in the fall following graduation from high school. THOMAS CARRAGHER SCHOLARSHIP FUND Tom Carragher was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease at the age of 18, and after four years of treatment against all odds, he survived. The Thomas Carragher scholarship, created in his honor, goes to one or more students each year who have faced and overcome serious medical challenges. The recipient may remain anonymous. ALVIN F. HARDING ENDOWMENT FUND The Alvin Endowment Fund was created in his memory by his family and members of Asnuntuck Community College. Alvin was a local Enfield business man and held his relationship with the staff at Asnuntuck Community College very close. ANNE MAZZA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP The Anne Mazza Scholarship was created for students who have completed at least one semester at Asnuntuck Community College and will be continuing their education at Asnuntuck Community College the following fall semester. ROBERT MCDONALD SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Robert McDonald Scholarship was developed in his honor for graduating high school seniors who are physically and/or learning challenged.
RONALD REUTER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND The Ronald Reuter Memorial Endowment Fund was established by his mother Joan upon his untimely death. The money the fund earns is used for scholarships to help students pursue their education. ROCKVILLE BANK SCHOLARSHIP The Rockville Bank scholarships are given to continuing Asnuntuck Community College students in business-related fields (business office technologies, accounting, information systems).
THE NADIA KOBER WRITING SCHOLARSHIP Nadia Kober was an excellent student at Asnuntuck who went on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology. She was an outstanding writer, author of Life Has Given and Taken, a moving collection of essays profiling seventeen inspiring senior citizens. She passed away in September 2008 at age 51, just before her book was published. This Scholarship honors a good writing student already studying at Asnuntuck and continuing here. Application requires a one-page cover letter addressing the topic, "What has been your approach to writing assignments in your courses at Asnuntuck?" and 10-20 pages of written work produced for credit course at Asnuntuck during the academic year of application. The writing can be of any type (nonfiction, fiction, poetry, etc.). |
