Asnuntuck Community College will be offering a cooking series in the New Year that may help people whose resolution is to eat healthier. The series Healthy Cooking Made Easy will consist of five classes this spring. Taught by Iwona Leger, founder of Love and Peas Health Coaching, the classes will consist of one hour of nutrition education related to the topic followed by two hours of cooking experience. Leger is a Certified Health Coach and Registered Nurse.
The first three-hour course will be One Pot Quick Meals. Students will learn how to make healthy, nutritious, inexpensive meals with readily made available ingredients. Participants will walk away with ideas on what types of meals to make. This class will be offered on Wednesday, February 5th from 6-9 p.m.
The second three-hour course to be offered is Healthy Breakfast. This class will help students become educated on which food choices to avoid and which options will help sustain blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day. This class will be offered on Wednesday, April 9th from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Three additional classes will be offered this spring. Appetizers and Desserts will be taught on Wednesday, March 12th; Green juices and Green Smoothies will be offered on Wednesday, April 30th and the final class in the series, Healthy Fast Foods will be taught on Wednesday, May 7th.
