Summer 2008 - Getting to Your Online Course

Welcome to Distance Learning at Asnuntuck
myCommNet is our system portal that will make it easier to conduct college business, communicate with others in your classes, check your academic progress, interact with classmates, and manage your college finances, all with a single sign-on.
"How do I get to myCommNet?"
From a web browser go to http://my.commnet.edu. That’s my (dot) commnet (dot) edu.
There is no www in the address OR click the image below.

"How do I log in?"
To get into the portal, simply use your current NetID (the account you use to log onto campus computers) and password, for example:
User name: BannerID@student.commnet.edu (ex. 87654321@student.commnet.edu)
Password for returning students: The 8-character password you currently use
Password for new students: The initial password for all new NetIDs will be based on a combination of personal information (birth date and social security number). Specifically, the following three items will make up the initial password:
- 1st three characters of birth month (with first letter capitalized)
- Ampersand character - &
- Last 4 digits of Social Security Number
So, for a user with a birth date on 10/24/79 and social security number of 123-45-6789, the initial password would be: Oct&6789 NOTE: You will be forced to change your password the first time you logon.
"How do I get to my courses?"
Once you are logged in, click the WebCT icon at the far right as shown below. You will be brought to your WebCT Vista homepage and course listings.
When you arrive at you WebCT homepage:
- Click “CHECK BROWSER” at the top to ensure your browser is configured properly.
- Click on a course to begin.
- Take time to go through the Orientation course which should be listed among your courses. It is a valuable resource for you as a member of the Asnuntuck community and online student. Campus resources and WebCT tutorials can be found here.
"What if I have trouble logging in?"
Click the “Trouble Logging In?” link at http://my.commnet.edu for assistance.

WebCT/Blackboard Vista Announcements:
OUTAGE on July 12th and 13th, 2008
CTDLC will shutdown its data center on July 12 and 13th for its semi-annual maintenance. This maintenance window is used to upgrade major infrastructure components of the data center. Additionally, CTDLC uses this window to test disaster recovery systems. During this time WebCT Vista will be intermittently up and down.
Reminder: Every Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. WebCT Vista is reserved for server maintenance and may be unavilable.
